So what is Lyocell? It’s a viscose variant that’s better for the environment and is mainly made from eucalyptus and beech trees. Lyocell is not only pleasantly cool and soft to wear, but also has natural breathability, making it the perfect fabric for airy summer garments.

 

Gentle manufacturing process

The production of Lyocell is significantly kinder to our planet than many other alternatives, as it doesn’t require any toxic chemicals and doesn’t emit any harmful by-products. What’s more, the chemicals that are used can be re-used again and again. The process is also significantly shorter compared to other man-made fibres. It takes just two and a half hours from felling the tree to carding the material, which requires significantly less water and energy.

Many good properties

Lyocell has a cooling effect and is also temperature-regulating. Its natural breathability also gives it antibacterial properties, so it’s even suitable for people with sensitive skin. Lyocell also doesn’t absorb moisture in the same way as other fabrics and thus doesn’t need to be washed as often.
